The ABNT NBR 15715 is the Brazilian technical standard that defines the quality requirements for flexible corrugated tubes in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) intended for the protection of electrical, telecommunications, and fiber optic cables. Techduto actively participated in the development of this standard and is a national reference in the production of tubes that fully comply with it.
Techduto and the Construction of NBR 15715
Techduto not only meets the NBR 15715 standard — it contributed to shaping it. With decades of experience in manufacturing corrugated tubes in HDPE even before the existence of the standard, our technical expertise was fundamental in defining the parameters that today protect infrastructure projects throughout Brazil.
When ABNT initiated the standardization process for corrugated tubes for cable protection, Techduto’s processes and products were already a market reference. The accumulated knowledge in material engineering, dimensional control, and mechanical tests that the company possessed was essential to validate the technical criteria that the standard consecrated.
Today, NBR 15715 is the standard that the entire market follows. And Techduto was one of the companies that helped establish it.
Each Techduto NBR coil leaves the factory with complete traceability and documented test results.
Scope of the Standard
The ABNT NBR 15715 establishes the technical requirements for corrugated tubes in HDPE used for the protection of electrical, telecommunications, and fiber optic cables in underground and aerial installations. It applies to tubes with a nominal external diameter of 20 mm to 250 mm.
Main Technical Requirements
Dimensions and Tolerances
The standard specifies nominal diameters, minimum wall thicknesses, and dimensional tolerances to ensure compatibility between tubes from different manufacturers and connection accessories — ensuring that a project can be completed without incompatibilities in the field.
Compression Resistance (Circumferential Stiffness)
The tubes must withstand specific compression loads without permanent deformation, ensuring structural integrity when buried. The resistance classes go up to 750 N/m, suitable for different installation depths and traffic loads.
Impact Resistance
Impact tests simulate real transportation and installation conditions — falls, tool shocks, and field working conditions. The tube must resist without cracking or breaking, ensuring that it arrives at its final destination intact and functional.
Flexibility
The tubes must be able to bend as specified without presenting cracks, ensuring adaptation to non-linear paths in underground installations.
Materials
The standard specifies the type and minimum properties of the HDPE used, including melt flow index and minimum density, ensuring that the raw material meets requirements that guarantee performance over decades.

Why Specify NBR 15715 in Projects
For engineers, designers, and purchasing managers, specifying NBR 15715 guarantees:
- Legal security — compliance with public bidding requirements and sectoral norms (ANEEL, ANATEL)
- Proven durability — useful life of over 75 years under normal usage conditions
- Field compatibility — tubes and connection accessories from different batches and even different manufacturers that conform are compatible
- Traceability — ability to audit the origin and quality of each installed component
- Protection against non-conforming products — specifying the standard is your primary defense against lower-quality tubes in the market
Techduto Products Compliant with NBR 15715
- Techduto NBR — complete line from DN 50 to DN 200 mm
- Techduto DW — double-walled tube for greater compression resistance
