Three models with calibrated density for each process: 150 A for MBBR and IFAS, 150 P for aerobic percolating filters and 150 ANA for submerged anaerobic filters.

The Problem

Most of the inefficiency problems in biological WWTPs originate from low-cost biomedia made with contaminated or recycled PEAD. In this material, bacteria simply do not develop — the biofilm does not form, the reactor does not reach efficiency and the cause goes undiagnosed for months. The wrong piece can destroy years of project and investment.

The TechBIO Solution

TechBIO is manufactured from virgin HDPE, biologically inert, with calibrated density for each type of reactor. We work with the largest specialists in biological applications in the country — from specification to dimensioning — to ensure that product and process are compatible from the start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about TechBIO

MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) is a moving bed reactor where biomedia circulate freely in the aeration tank. Bacteria colonize the inner surface of the pieces forming a stable biofilm. TechBIO 150 A has a calibrated density to fluidize at the air-water interface — without floating or sinking — ensuring maximum contact between biofilm and effluent without extra aeration energy consumption.
The volume depends on the organic load (DBO or COD), the superficial application rate and the percentage of reactor filling (normally 30 to 50% of the useful volume for MBBR). Our technical team performs this sizing for free — inform the flow rate, the influent DBO and the treated effluent quality target.
Yes. The retrofit with TechBIO is one of the biggest advantages of the system. In activated sludge or oxidation ditch reactors, the addition of biomedia transforms the process into IFAS without civil work. The installation is limited to launching the pieces into the tank and installing retention screens at the outlets — usually executable in days.
TechBIO 150 ANA is compatible with small-scale anaerobic systems such as biodigesters and small UASB reactors. For residential septic tanks, the efficiency gain in DBO removal can reduce the load on the sink or final polishing — consult our team to evaluate your case.
HDPE is biologically inert — it does not serve as a nutritional substrate for bacteria, only as a physical support — and resists acids, bases, solvents and common petroleum derivatives in industrial effluents. Proven durability of decades in a humid environment, without degradation by UV in submerged parts, with a working temperature between 0 and 60°C.
The lifespan of TechBIO exceeds 20 years under normal operating conditions. Maintenance is virtually zero: the biofilm self-regulates, the pieces do not require periodic cleaning and the void space above 95% prevents clogging even with intense biomass growth. In scheduled stops, the biomedia can be stored dry and reinoculated without structural loss.
